Mission statement

AREME’s members started their cooperation in 2016 on the initiative of Nespresso with a clear mission: improving the collection, sorting and recycling of semi-rigid, flexible and other pre-dominant composite aluminium packaging and similar items.

To this end, AREME explores innovative scenarios such as the collection of small aluminium packaging and similar items through the national system of packaging collection (blue PMD bags). Today, this system allows only a restricted number of products to be collected and recycled.

Increasing the recycling of such aluminium items will allow Belgium to keep its leading position in terms of packaging waste recycling and would ensure a more circular economy.
